Renewable Materials
We work exclusively with natural, renewable fibers: straw, cotton, raffia, willow, and bamboo. These are among the most sustainable resources on the planet — they grow rapidly without pesticides, require minimal water, and regenerate after harvest.
Unlike synthetic alternatives derived from petroleum, these materials are biodegradable. When a woven bag reaches the end of its long life, it returns to the earth rather than sitting in a landfill for centuries.
Handcrafted Process
Every Overvoy bag is handwoven by skilled artisans using traditional techniques. Handweaving uses significantly less energy than industrial manufacturing.
Handcrafting also means each piece receives individual attention. Artisans can spot and correct imperfections during the weaving process, resulting in higher quality products that last longer — the most sustainable product is one you do not need to replace.
Low-Carbon Footprint
Minimal Processing
Raw natural fibers require little processing before weaving. No chemical treatments, dyes, or synthetic coatings are used in our standard collections.
Lightweight Shipping
Woven bags are naturally lightweight, reducing the carbon cost of shipping. We use minimal, recyclable packaging to further lower our environmental impact.
